Day 29: Rome

Today seemed like a very long day of travel. We got to the station near our hotel to find out that the train we planned to take to the airport was not running because of damage somewhere along the track. Fortunately, we had left extra time and were able to rearrange our plans and still make it to the airport in plenty of time for our flight. It is sometimes good to be traveling with children, because we do our best to convince them (and by default ourselves) that there is no reason to stress - they pick up on every indication that we are stressed.
We made it to Rome - WOW!
As we traveled from the airport to our apartment, we were awed by the city already. The history is so very apparent everywhere you look. We looked around with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. Our apartment here is great so far - we had a great dinner of fresh pasta with garlic and bread - delicious. During and after dinner, Dave gave the boys a history lesson about Rome - they were incredibly attentive and full of questions and ideas.

Other than one picture when we first arrived at the airport and one of the history lesson tonight, we do not have any pictures today since it was a travel day. Instead, we are going to add some Christmas Market pictures to give a better idea of what the German Christmas Markets look like.

  1. Oh, yummy!!!! Not sure what I'd want more...the fresh pasta with garlic or the chocolate truffles and pastries! Both! Buon Appetito!
